Hi Brad, and Happy New Year......... I have discovered your web page today, and I am interested as I have rosacea. I also have many dietary considerations as I am lactose & fruitose intolerate. I feel best when I eat protein from an animal source. I do eat much sugar & have difficulty staying 'off' of it. Very recently I have discovered, as my facial cleasing routine, the combination of Lavender soap followed with Aubrey's herbal facial astringent. This is very helpful. Pertaining to your recommendations, I do not know what the list of foods to avoid or the list of foods to favor contain. Before I decide to continue investigating your suggestions, I would appreciate it if I could have some general guidelines. Then I can see if your plan is do-able for me. Is that possible? My email address is: jrose9@yahoo.com Thanks for your attention, Jamie Rose

Jamie; You are on the right track...and you know what you should avoid. My diet will only confirm what you have already discovered. It really isn't any secret, most who suffer with rosacea will not change their diet and prefer to take prescription medication and visits to the dermatologist, which is an effective way to control rosacea. You could easily figure out what you need to avoid. Just experiment, like I did. When your rosacea flares up, write down exactly what you eat the previous week. Notice when your rosacea clears up and figure which foods trigger the rosacea flare-ups and which food seems to control it. That is what my diet plan is...except I can tell you in writing what to eat and what to avoid and save you time. That's it in a nutshell. Brady Barrows

Please send me info on your book re. Rosacea. I've just (2 weeks ago) been diagnosed after having the condition for aprox. 10 years. I had thought the blood vessels in my face were damaged due to high blood pressure. Actually I diagnosed myself through TV ads then asked my current MD if I was correct and he said it looks like it and asked if I had ever been diagnosed before. I have an annual physical exam and would have thought a physician would have caught it before now. I am now applying Metrogel daily in the morning and again before bedtime. I am experiencing some itching during the day that was not there before the Metrogel. I hope that's a sign of healing. Any and all info you can give me would be appreciated including dietary. I have one cup of coffee in the morning and haven't had any alcohol for about 30 years. I'm 66 years old and about 50# overweight. I will be looking anxiously for your answer. Thank you. Hello, I'm Irena, I'm 15. Recently My dermatologist said I might have rosacea. This is very VERY bad if I do cause I read some about it and it sounds like I have to totally turn my lifestyle around. I'm a vegetarian [The type that doesn't eat anything that breaths, but eggs and cheese and milk] ... so my parents and I were trying to figure out what I could eat and we could HARDLY figure anything out. I love spicy foods and cappuccinos, tomatoes, cheese, citrus fruits and mostly everything I'm not supposed to be eating [it's almost all I eat]. I don't like too much sweet stuff though but almost all the sweet stuff I DO like has chocolate or citrus in it... I'm also not supposed to be exercising too much, but I'm in Tae Kwon Do and have been since I was 9, and I want to stay in shape. Pleassse help me :( I don't want to have to give up all the stuff I love and I don't want to starve but I don't want my face to mess up.ahhh Hope you can help :). bye bye From: "Brady Barrows" <brady@mumbet.com>

How much is the diet book? Can you give me an idea of what's involved with
the diet. What is your background? Are you a doctor or dietician? Is the diet healthy?
I was recently diagnosed with this, and going for a second opinion. I thought
it was just acne but persistent and not going away. I am 28. But I am
interested in the diet because I did ask the doctor if the "acne" was diet

Dear Jtp1416@aol.com:
If you will read again what is on my site, never once is it claimed that I
have a cure for rosacea, but just the opposite, I have stated repeatedly
that this only controls rosacea. There is no known cure for rosacea.
The drug industry is making a profit on rosacea. Dermatologists make a
profit on rosacea. There are numerous skin treatments for rosacea making a
profit. All of these for profit treatments for rosacea are mentioned on my
site and so far not one has paid me a dime for mentioning them. So far, I
haven't even made a profit on this website, since it costs time and money to
do this but instead I have been losing money. Your ideas on morality are
noble, but not practical. There are a few doctors who are in it for your
noble idea of not making a profit, but most doctors are in it for the money.
That is the way it is since people have been making a profit on disease for
a very long time. Wouldn't it be nice if there were no disease at all?
Someday that will happen, but until then, try going to a hospital without
having to somehow pay for the treatment....most hospitals are in it for the
profit as well... Is the hospital evil? That is your call. But I sure am glad that the
hospital is there and I don't view it evil to make a profit on disease or
accidents and many others do not share your view of morality.

I get no pimples (except for my normal ones), and by morning, the redness isn gone again, only to return the next afternoon. Could this be rosacea? I realize you are not a doctor, and I will eventually go see one as time permits (single mom, etc.), but I am interested in your opinions. I will try and follow your suggestion to eliminate [edited out*] from my diet. What a task this is going to be!
My dermatologist prescribed Metro Cream and another antibolic. Tried it once and decided this is not for me.
I was diagnosed a month ago, but new something was wrong for sometime.
Consulted a Homeopathic doctor and now working with him for this condition. I believe it's going to take a lot of patience and work to control this dreaded disease.

The main thing is reduce [edited out*] in all its forms, whether natural or otherwise, especially [edited out*] for thirty days to see if this will control your rosacea. I know it is difficult to do this, but so is rosacea!

I am 31 years old and have had Rosacea for over 2 years now. I've used the Metrogel and started breaking out with a spidery type rash under my hands, fingers and wrists, then eventually the areas where I applied the Metrogel started swelling up. I was embarressed to even show my face (and neck), My children would tease me saying that I have a lot of pimples and such, since they are at the age of acne. At first I didn't know what it was on my face, then I got UV-Itis, then I had to visit my regular physician, since the eye specialist said that UV-Itis is
usually a secondary issue resulting from another primary problem. I was tested for thyroid problems and Lupas (hope I spelled them correctly), It turns out I had Rosacea. I notice at times my vision gets a bit blurry from time to time, so I wipe my eyes and blink a lot more than I use to do normally.I have been researching on the web for different treatments, hoping to find and easy and practical solution. I have learned a lot more about Rosacea and have found a website for another treatment. www.rosacea-ltd.com I really want to try this treatment... has anyone used the Rosacea-Ltd III? Apparently by using this treatment, there are no side affects and a 90-day money back offer. If anyone knows more about this treatment please e-mail me.

The only thing that seems to make my Rosacea flair up is a hot shower, skin care products--especially moisturizers, some natural things like wheat grass. Honestly [edited out*] do not seem to bother me. I have kept an eye on what was causing flair ups. This is not said to dismiss your findings, I do believe that [edited out*] are the cause of your flair ups, but I do not think they are the cause of all Rosacea flair ups. I believe my Rosacea is linked to a more serious health problem, which is why I asked you if you had any unexplained symptoms that were troubling you. Rosacea seems to be linked with a problem with the lymph system. I would be interested in knowing if any of the others you have spoken with about this feel that it is linked with a more serious illness? Doctors do not really use Rosacea as a diagnostic tool in diagnosing more serious illnesses because you can just have Rosacea, but it can also be caused by other illnesses. I would be interested in hearing what you think about this.

July 23,2000, from Jeanette,
I have had rosacea since Nov.1999. Here are some things that have helped me. Make-up that is non triggering by Clinique, at major department stores, you may go to my website to mail order from them. A great sunscreen and moisturizer that feels great,hydra-firm lotion, unlike sunscreen usually does, along with a enzyme cleanser that my dermatologist says helps, and a beta-C antioxidant creme that soothes my skin at night and firms and smoothes, plus a vitaminC, glycolic acid to get rid of wrinkles that I wear at night, this one I do not put on the rosacea, are also on my website at the bottom a link called New Vision. Click on it, take the tour, or click on personal care to order or get information, great discounts. On the left of my website click on SHOPPING mall for the make-up. I also use the NewVision nutraceuticals Healthpack, and including the calcium that won a Pulitzer, you can't get heartdisease or cancer with this because it keeps you body alkaline, numerous studies support that, so I know this problem we have is not a bloodvessel disease. My website is a busiess site showing people how they can make money off the internet and have a .com busiess in their home that is international, however I have given you the links on that site to go to for the info above, http://www.dreamaker1.evisionbiz.com. Lastly I have found Primrose oil to be very soothing to my skin, 1300mg a day, Vit A. 400iu a day, both strawberry and redclover tea, and violet aromatherapy on my skin and in my bath, not on the Rosacea,to calm my nerves. Subject: your diet
Dear Sir, I have read everything on the National Rosacea Society page and the only thing I can figure out is possibly that the main trigger of Rosacea is milk products (since they were more of them listed than anything else), but I have a tendency to believe it may be caused by sugar consumption. Any way, I once ordered a supposed cure for Rosacea over the internet and I tried it to no avail, if anything it may have made it worse (he said that putting organic apple cider on your face would help, but I didn't notice any difference, so forgive me if I am a little wary about sending you money for a service that may or may not work for me. I feel I got burned and have a hard time trusting anybody else with my hard earned money, especially over the net. D Hatcher Reply from: bradybarrows@hotmail.com

You are definitely on the right track and my Rosacea Diet is basically a 30 day diet to prove to you what controls rosacea flare-ups. It is a very difficult diet that many will not even try for 30 days. Those who do have said it works. As I mention on my web site, if you are not completely satisfied, you return to me what I send to you telling me why you are not satisfied and I will refund your money.
Did the guy who sold you a rosacea 'cure' give you a refund? I do not claim to cure rosacea, I only have a way to control it

I didn't have any information on dead links, however I did want to comment on what an informative and encouraging site you have. I was diagnosed with rosecea today. Looking back, I have had this for a very long time. I was relieved to finally have an explanation, but understandably upset and weary of the future. I am in outside sales for one of the nation's largest medical providers...I have to be in front of many different clients daily. I was literally "freaking out" about how this was going to affect my day-to-day lifestyle, and ultimately my job. After reading the incredible facts and suggestions on your website, I am ready to deal with this condition head on! I can handle this! Thank you for your factual info, as well as your optimistic outlook, and healthy tips! Your efforts are greatly appreciated by me, and many others I'm sure. Best wishes...

You are not the first to feel the way you do about making money. I would say, your opinion is about one out of thirty, but I would actualy have to count all the comments to get an accurate number. You can read all the comments in 1999 and 2000 to see yourself. I have responded to this previously, but here I go again. You are entitled to your opinion, and can voice it as you just did, but first off it is legal to publish and sell a diet on the internet. Second, it is also ethical to sell a diet. Third, it is also ethical and legal to sell products to control rosacea. Fourth, my web site has a lot of free information on controlling rosacea. Fifth, Read the comment from Lee S. Hale from Marion, Arkansas which is posted just before your comment who feels just the opposite of you and is among the 30 who outnumber you. Sixth, my site is JUST RIGHT.

My point is simply this-people with this problem have tried many things to alleviate their syptoms. Their self-worth/image is torn down when their faces "erupt". The Internet is filled with creams/medications/drugs for rosecea and other skin problems that promise relief or cures. Then I stumble to your site where you promise relief with a diet, at a price. To me unless your diet is a thoroughly researched and comprehensive plan to deal with this-you should give the damn thing away as a good deed. We are taught to make money on everything we do-that humanity slips away in the process. The right thing to do is give it away-post it for free-you know that. Scotty
Reply from: bradybarrows@hotmail.com
Date: August 5, 2000
Scotty: If you have read the comments in 1999, someone else challenged me already on this 'give the diet away for free for humanity' cause and I challenged him the same way you are challenging me, so I will repeat what I told him.
You can do it yourself. Why don't you pay all the costs of making a web site, or do it yourself, which by the way costs money and time, and publish it on the web and give it away for free to the world? Practice what you preach.
You can make your own diet to control rosacea and give it away for free.
In fact I GAVE him the diet and said, 'now go ahead and do it yourself' and he wouldn't do it. Since then I have copyrighted the diet and whether it works for others you can read the comments of those who have used it and see their comments which are posted for the world to read.
As I have said repeatedly, this diet doesn't cure rosacea, it only helps to control it. You can read on the National Rosacea Society website what that society [which is a non-profit organization] says you should avoid eating to control rosacea. That information is free. This society does not promote commercial ways to control rosacea, but my site does and plainly states that rosacea-control.com is first of all a commercial venture in the legal disclaimer. Most people have tried to avoid what the NRS and their dermatologist(s) have suggested triggers rosacea in the diet and have not
been successful. I have found a diet that works to control it. There is nothing wrong with making a profit on selling a diet that controls rosacea, contrary to your viewpoint. Many do not share your viewpoint and purchase the Rosacea Diet. Furthermore, if any are not satisfied with the diet I will refund their money if the Rosacea Diet is returned and the reason stated for dissatisfaction. So far, not one has been returned. Also, I have stated carefully that this is a difficult diet that many will not undertake since it requires a radical change in eating and drinking habits.
So, how about you, why don't you give away for free a diet or another way to control rosacea through the world wide web?
And thank you for bringing this issue up again, since some enjoy reading the comments.

Dear Brady,
I was diagnosed with acne rosacea about eight yers ago. I am a 40 year old female that has never been "under control." I can not tell you how many different creams and antibiotics I have been on. It does well for a while then i's back in full force. since this past May I have become almost agoraphobic, as my fce looks horrible. It is mostly my nose. It is red, very bumpy, and has multiple whiteheads. I have never had this on my nose before. My dermatologist siad I needed a different antibiotic as I had been on Minocin for years. I am now on E-mycin plus Noritate cream & Azelex creeam. there has been no changes. I am totally fed up. I'm in my siter's wedding in Oct. I do not want to ruin her pictures Help!!
The only things my MD has told me to avoid is hot drinks, exercise and stress. And of coure alcohol. I do not drink. Prior to my condition I did enjoy a glass of wine. I am of Irish descent which I was told is a factor. I do avoid cheeses and caffiene. I work nights so I will have a medium coffee 2 times/week only. I can't figure out why my face is wrse as I follow the same regime daily. Basis face soap for sensitive skin, followed by cetaphil lotion, then my noritate. I do use a sun screen in a cover up makeup.
I'm very willing to try your diet. I'm thin and watch everything I eat.
Thanks, Kathy reifschneider

If you scroll down, you will find a place to click on those who have used the Rosacea Diet and have commented about using it. This should be all you need to decide if you wish to purchase the Rosacea Diet. It is a difficult diet and if you will not change your eating and drinking habits, don't bother trying it. It does control rosacea diet triggers but you still may need to see a dermatologist as well. If you are already under the care of a dermatologist, this diet may help further to control your rosacea.

Brady,
The diet is still helping, although not entirely eliminating the problem. I have a hunch there may be something else involved. I don't know if you have considered the yeast factor. I noticed that when I used the anti-yeast medications prescribed for vaginal yeast infections on my face, that the bumps disappeared almost immediately, and stayed away with just one application. No doctor ever suggested this treatment, which has so much better results than the metrocream, that it made me wonder if candidiasis wasn't the problem. So I am also going to experiment with diets that address candidiasis. Also hard diets to stay on, different in some respects from your Rosacea diet. Janet
Reply from: Brady Barrows
Date: September 2, 2000
Janet: Yes, someone else said the same treatment with vaginal cream on the face to treat yeast infection and many have said the same connection to candida, these comments are in the 1999 and 2000 Comments from around the world on my site. The candida diet is [*edited out*] as well. What I have found is that if I go back to [edited out*], the rosacea returns. I just don't want to take tetracycline anymore, which, I think, is not good over the long term and may have a connection with developing candida. I am using Barry Edelman's BT Solution on my face for rosacea since he gave me some to try out and it seems to help. Like I said, this diet alone may not be enough to control your rosacea, but as you have found out, eating [edited out*] triggers rosacea, and you don't find this information on the National Rosacea Society's web site nor does your dermatologist tell you to avoid [edited out*]. But it does help CONTROL rosacea flareups. As you may have seen, I removed your name and email address from your comment but kept it since your comment was most gracious. Thanks. Keep in touch with your findings. I will post them if you let me, of course, without your name/email! Brady Barrows

If you are meat eater, you may not eat ANY bread on the Rosacea Diet for thirty days, after that, you may decide what breads you want to eat to see if your rosacea returns. The Rosacea Diet plan is for thirty days to prove to you that you can control rosacea flareups with your diet. You will be convinced that this diet does control rosacea if you stick to it for thirty days. Email me back with the list of ingredients if you are a vegetarian. If you are a meat eater, you must stop eating ANY bread for thirty days and a lot of other things that may be triggering YOUR rosacea. Dear Brady,
The check payable to yor name is enclosed. Would you please send me the Rosacea Diet.
2 months ago I went to a dermatologist. He confirm that I have rosacea. Looking back I have had this for a long time. He gave me the antibiotic (monodoks-contains doksisiklin) and rosa cream (metronidazol). I used the rosa cream 2 days but after my face getting redder I stopped it. I didn't use the antibiotics also. Because I heard that they may be cured temporarily. It may come again usually after 6 months. They may be risks and side effects. I have some blook veins also. The doctor told me that my rosacea is between first and second stage. I am very upset. I have no clue what to do about it.
Now I am using vitamin E (400) 3 times in a week. And sometimes I am using Zyrtec and Claratine (antihistaminic). But I am wandering much. My rosacea may get worsen. I am also trying to detect and avoid the trigger foods. I don't eat or drink spicy foods, hot drinks, alcohol, milk, egg Etc. And also I am trying to avoid the sunshine by Cuppertone sun block (Spf 45) and with sun glasses.
Besides your diet program would you please give me advices what to do and also if you have any information about which mouisturizer and sun block re the best for the rosacea.
I would like to thank you in advance and also I am looking forward to hearing from you and waiting for your diet program. With my best regards, Dr. Tülay ZAIMOGLU Reply from: Brady Barrows

Mr. Zaimoglu:
I have sent the Rosacea Diet throught the mail and I wish to thank you very much for purchasing the "Rosacea Diet" you may now access the Rosacea Diet online by clicking below......
To answer your questions, you may still need the care of a dermatolgist to control your rosacea in addition to the Rosacea Diet along with his recommendations of prescription medication. The trigger foods that dermatologists and others have suggested to avoid do NOT take into consideration that [*edited out*] is the real culprit. Once you have avoided[*edited out*] and eat a [*edited out*] diet, you notice your rosacea will improve, usually within a week, but definitely in ONE MONTH. Eat [*edited out*] .
Do not eat more than 30 gms. of [*edited out*] a day. Drink lots of water.
Your sun block you mention is fine. Any moisturizer is your choice. You will find after you have proven to yourself that[*edited out*] diet triggers rosacea that you will find how to control your rosacea. You may have to take the dermatologist recommendations as well to control YOUR rosacea, but the Rosacea Diet will convince you what the real culprit is,[*edited out*] .
All foods with[*edited out*] and foods that easily convert to [*edited out*] should be avoided.
[*edited out*] is safe to eat and will not trigger rosacea. It is a question of how much you want to control your rosacea with what you eat. Many will not go on the Rosacea Diet since they will not give up[*edited out*] . It is up to you what you do with the Rosacea Diet. If you decide to try it and it works for you, please write and tell me your results. If you have any more questions please write.

I checked the information about rosacea in MEDLINE and found some-apparently- new or interesting information. Wonder if you know more about it. Some of the interesting titles were: Rosacea; and update McDonell JK, et al. Cleve. Clin J Med 2000 Aug; 67(8):587-90 Helicobacter pylori in rosacea and chronic urticaria Rojo-Garcia JM, et al, Acta Derm Venereol. 2000 Mar -apr; 80(2) 156-7 and particularly Helicobacter pylori and it eradication in rosacea J. Physiol Pharmacol. 199 Dec;50(5) 777-86 and the following review paper Helicobacter pylori infection and skin diseases J. Physiol Phamacol. 1999 Dec 50(5) 753-76
Please let me know if any of the above is important, new info.

Re: Shame on you for charging for a diet.
Can you give me an example where it is shameful to sell a diet other than mine that a jury convicted for doing so which would bring shame on the individual and everyone has heard of this case and the court record can be viewed by the public and the public at large agrees with you that selling this diet is shameful? I don't know of such a case. This is a free market economy and it is legal to sell diets and it is done over and over again and I challenge you to prove that what I have done is shameful. No jury or judge would agree with you, and the public at large does not agree with you. There is nothing wrong morally, ethically or legal with selling a diet. I can find 153 names of people all over the world who would disagree with you. How many do you have?

I have been trying to control my rosacea for five years now once again I have started with oral and topical antibiotics can you tell me how long I should have to wait to see any results. Thank you Tom Hastie. hastie@telus.net Brady Barrows responded:
Tom Hastie:
I am not a medical doctor and such questions should be directed to the physician who prescribed your antibiotics. When I took antibiotics to control a major rosacea flareup, it took about a week to see some improvement when I took massive doses of tetracycline, usually four capsules a day. Sometimes it took longer than a week, but usually it began clearing up witin ten days. However, I no longer use antibiotics to control my rosacea, but instead use my Rosacea Diet which you can read about at my site:
http://rosacea-control.com
So it would be better for you to ask your medical doctor about your rosacea, since your situation may be different from mine and may need medical attention which you obviously already have since you have a prescription for antibiotics. Hope this helps. Brady Barrows

I have just been diagnosed with having rosacea but when I asked my doctor about this problem I have he just shook his head. My body is warm, very warm. I feel many times like I have a fever but when I take my temperature it's either normal or even below normal. Is the warm feeling part of rosacea?
Thank you for your help.

I have a product that consist only of natural products. The cream is called Naturally Active. The name suits the product. It works in a natural way as its active when applied. In the third sentence of the section on my web site under "Purpose of this Site" it states:
"According to the National Rosacea Society rosacea is a chronic, acne-like condition of the facial skin that may affect as many as 13 million Americans. The Medical Reporter says that number may be up to 20 Million! I happen to be one of them."
On my site I have stated repeatedly that there is 'no cure for rosacea,' only ways to control it. No where on rosacea-control.com does it say that I am cured of rosacea, to the contrary, I have rosacea and try to control it by diet. When I stick to my diet, which is a very difficult thing to do, I control my rosacea.
Do you know of any one who has been cured of rosacea? I have never met one. There are a few 'cures' for rosacea on the world wide web, but according to all the reputable medical sources, there is no cure for rosacea and I have noted these links in my "LINKS" section as 'cure' rather than cure, since I doubt if the treatment actually does anything but alleviate or control rosacea flare-ups.
The reason for the photo of me is that I am not trying to hide anything about myself to let any one who is interested to know about me, my background, and my integrity. I have had a red complexion since my youth and rosacea certainly magnifies it. Brady Barrows

Hello, I purchased your diet online yesterday, and was wondering when I could expect it? I kind of thought it would come auto-responded or something. Can you tell I am anxious to try it? I have known that my rosacea is affected by diet for a long time, because when I fast, it goes away, but I have never been able to pin down what foods were the culprits. I am excited...so please hurry!

Hello,
I just received your diet and read your findings with great interest. I think that cutting out [edited out*] is going to be the hardest part for me. I've been dealing with this condition for about 15 years now and have taken the antibiotics, used metrogel, had a dermatolagist prescribe beta-blockers to help control the flushing, one doctor put me on 1% cortizone creme and nizorale cream in addition to the antibiotics, had lazer surgery 5 years ago and, of course, none of this has gotten rid of this stupid condition. In some cases, it has made it worse. About a month ago I started using a vitamin k creme and it has given me the best results so far.
I think that your diet has a lot of merit, even though I have not had a chance to start it yet. I had a stomach bug a few weeks ago and nothing sounded good as far as food goes, so during that time I drank nothing but water and slept a lot. The condition of my skin really improved during the time I was "fasting''. I've felt for some time now that this is an allergy and it manifests itself in the redness and breakouts. I had allergy problems as a child (cat, mold, etc., but no food allergies that I knew of). My current condition started showing itself when I was about 22 and was in "full bloom'' around the age of 30. I never had any skin problems though my teen years and this was a pretty bitter pill to swallow. To make the whole situation even worse, I had grown up being a performer in musical theater and had gotten a degree in vocal performance and was planning a career in opera. I began to avoid any audition or performance situation because I was more stressed over the condition of my skin than my singing.
Well, this has turned into quite a dissertation. I didn't mean to take up so much of your time and I'm sure that your rosacea story is just as upsetting to you as mine is for me. Though your work, I'm sure that you've seen a lot more of the devistation this causes than I ever will. People tell me all the time that I make to much of this, that at least it's not life threatening like cancer or AIDS. I know that's true, but I'm sick of getting up in the morning and thinking all the way to the mirror, "What's it going to be like today". I look forward to following your diet and seeing the results. I know that there is a cause for this condition, and that eliminating it will make the condition go away. Thanking you in advance for your work and research.
Best wishes for many clear skin days,
James Miller Brady Barrows responded:
