Day One April 19, 2004
I just got my prescription for DMSO 1% Diflucan. I am a bit nervous but I can always call my doctor (My doctor who gave me the prescription for DMSO 1% Fluconazole is Clif Arrington, M.D., Honalo Business Center, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii 808 322-9400 later he gave me a prescription for the stronger 10% Fluconazole) or CP and ask questions or even quit at any time. Try to be calm and just go with the flow, which is in a bottle containing a pink clear fluid. The pink is symbolic of course. Obtained Prescription for DMSO 1 % Diflucan from Shelly Williams, Pharmacist & Compounding Specialist, Malama Compounding Pharmacy, 81-6629 Mamalahoa Hwy., Kealakeua, HI 96750, Telephone (808) 324-6888 FAX 808 324-7888. Used 'wick' (small brush) to apply on rosacea spots at 4:15 PM. Stinging lasted for 20 to 30 minutes and it really stings! This prescription is not for the weak of heart. Pansy guinea pigs stay home and smear the Metrogel and down the tetracyline! Drove home. When I arrived home two hours later my wife noticed that the rosacea spots had reduced in redness. I did too. Applied second application of the prescription just before going to bed and experienced the same stinging!
Day Two April 20
Applied third application of this prescription after shaving with sulphur soap and experienced more stinging. All that morning the redness of the rosacea spots on my face were more noticeable and pronounced. My wife said it looked bad. I agreed. If you are going on a date you better put lots of make up on! Applied the fourth application just before bed with more stinging which lasted about ten to fifteen minutes.
Day Three April 21
I woke up and noticed that some skin from the rosacea spots was peeling. Applied the fifth application and again the sting is still there but not as long. Maybe ten minutes? I was a bit red on the rosacea spots for a while. Later in the day the redness seemed to calm down. At the end of the day there was skin still peeling from the rosacea. I used a wash cloth and got the dead skin off. This skin peeling is a drag but hey, if it works it can't be any worse than the rosacea, right? Time will tell. Applied the sixth application and went to bed. The other thing I noticed is that both times today after application of the treatment the stinging was reduced to about five to ten minutes.
Day Four April 22
Woke up this morning and the redness was reduced somewhat but still there. I noticed my skin is continuing to peel a layer of skin from the rosacea spots. The advantage of skin peeling is that you can tell everyone you have leprosy rather than rosacea? Just a thought. No, not a good idea. The stinging with the seventh application was about five minutes and then it subsides and turns red where the rosacea is. I must admit that the rosacea seems to be getting better and I can see that two months of this is not for the timid or the half-hearted. Knowing what I know about rosaceans this will not be a popular prescription, but only for the courageous. Most rosaceans will stick with the staus quo prescription regime even if it is wanting. By day four the weak will quit. This is only for the hearty. But I am in this for the long haul. This either will prove to me that it works or not! And you can read all about it. Applied the eighth application before going to bed and the stinging lasted about five minutes. The rosacea again turned red.
Dave Five April 23
Woke up this morning and checked the mirror and the redness of the rosacea spots are diminished! My wife said she noticed the red was less on my face than yesterday. I had two small pimples which both hurt and popped them. I know this is disgusting but this is a diary for rosaceans and it comes with the turf. If you think rosacea is all flowery then you are on the wrong site and should read poetry. My skin continues to peel. My wife thinks she should try this for her wrinkles and I said you have got to be kidding! This is no picnic. I applied the prescription to my rosacea and it stung for about five minutes. Redness increased. Then in about a couple of hours the redness is reduced. My wife says that it appears to be clearing my rosacea. I do to. Dave has been emailing me and says the pink in the prescription needs to be removed by obtaining just white powder Diflucan. Alas, I paid cash for the prescription but I assured Dave I would try to get 'clear' next time. Dave is concerned with red dye in the Diflucan is not a good idea. So don't forget to ask your CP for clear white Diflucan powder rather than the pink. My face is continuing to peel but looks clearer from this prescription. The tenth application of the prescription brought the usual sting but it lasted only about five minutes.
Day Six April 24
This morning my wife and I both agree that this prescription is working and my face is getting clearer. My face continues to peel and a wash rag does remove the dead skin. It is an interesting result. After application of the prescription it stings for about five minutes then turns the rosacea more red. Eleventh application. The redness stays for a while and then reduces somewhat. The nightime applciation didn't burn as much this time. The stinging was remarkably noticeable. Maybe a minute or two and then it was fine. And I definitely can assure you that it was less!
Day Seven April 25
This morning the redness is considerably reduced. This is working. After application this morning the stinging still lasted about five minutes. After about a half hour the redness does calm down a bit. The application just before going to bed lasted longer than five minutes. Doesn't that seem unusual? Who can figure this one out? Rosacea spots get more red when the prescription is applied to the rosacea. However it does seem that the rosacea spots are getting smaller than yesterday. By the way, I am still on my Rosacea Diet just in case you wondered.
Day Eight April 26
This morning my face is about the same. Some rosacea still visible. I didn't apply the prescription until noon. The rosacea spots are redder for about a half hour. The stinging lasts about five minutes. I am having trouble with a new rosacea spot now just below the left cheek near the mouth. Two small spots are bleeding from where I pulled the peeling skin. I guess I will have to be more careful when cleaning the peeling skin and all this is in the same area just below the left cheek toward the mouth. Wouldn't it be nice if I could give you digital photos of my progress each day? But alas, I sold my digital camera and have none. The rest of my face does look better in the afternoon and evening. More skin peeling is evident. The nightime application stung for about five minutes.
Day Nine April 27
My face is really clearing up. There is just the one rosacea spot under my left cheek and the other rosacea spots are clearing up. Amazing. The morning application again stings for five minutes. My skin peeled during the day. By the way my wife took a photo of me today to mark this date. I have to develope and scan the photo and will post it here whenever I can get to doing this. I will also post photos hopefully every ten days. The photo is just below.
Day Ten April 28
After applying the prescription this morning the redness seems to be lasting longer this morning. The stinging did last about five minutes. I am letting my face heal. The skin peeling is still evident. I am not going to apply the precription at the end of the day and just let my face rest. The redness from the rosacea is somewhat gone but still there at bedtime. I think one application is enough today. My face does feel a bit raw and tender from all this.
Day Eleven April 29
The redness from the rosacea is calmed down and my face looks healed. I can still see some lines from the rosacea but it looks so much better! The skin continues to peel with little flakes. My face feels a lot better today and not as tender and raw. Feels like new. I applied the prescription just before going to be and the stinging lasted about five minutes. This application is the only one for the day since I think for now that is best.
Day Twelve April 30
My face is looking better today than before and I actually think that at this pace in two months with one application a day or every other day or once a week that my rosacea will clear. I actually am beginning to believe that this prescription works. I think that the initial instruction to apply twice a day is too much and will discuss this with my doctor and CP. The application just before bed had about five minutes, possibly just four minutes of stinging.
Day Thirteen May 1
This morning the redness of my rosacea continues to be less. I am convinced that one application a day is best for now. Dave Fleming has been emailing me saying the instructions written on my prescription bottle saying 'Apply Light Application to Areas of Rosacea Twice a Day' should read something different. He has told me to let my skin heal rather than have applications twice a day. I think he is right. Since April 28 I have only applied one application of the prescription a day. I have things to discuss with my doctor and CP concerning all this. So for nine days I applied this prescription twice a day and for three days I only applied it once a day. Actually my face looks pretty good. The skin peeling was less today than before and easily washed off with soap and water. Dave is concerned that my method of removing peeled skin should be different. He thinks I am too aggressive and has another approach. He encourages the use of a non-prescription cream and you can read about it at his yahoo group site. Dave is also concerned about the fact that my doctor through the CP prescribed this twice a day, and says, "these directions could be more elaborate, so that all rosaceans could try this treatment with the greatest convenience possible." Dave's 'elaborate' directions on the use of this prescription can be read on my web site (rosaceans.com) as a public service. Applied the prescription just before bed. The stinging may have lasted four minutes. Popped a couple of pimples. Can't help it. Compusive obsessive disorder.
Day Fourteen May 2
My face is definitely getting better. The redness from the rosacea is healing and I am pleased with the results. I have a couple of pimples that are healing which are a bit nasty to look at, but overall my face looks pretty good. However, I have decided to apply the prescription to my few rosacea red spots this morning after I washed my face. It only stung for a few (three or four) minutes. The redness intensifies when you apply the prescription in the morning. I just had to find out what would happen. I have confirmed that it does make my rosacea redder. But it appears to reduce the pimples and increase healing.
Day Fifteen May 3
This morning my face peeled a lot! My face is red and the rosacea spots are more pronounced. But still I can see that this prescription is working, healing the rosacea! There are spots healing! I still have three pimples giving me trouble and they are painful. I didn't put the prescription on this morning since I want my skin to heal from the two applications from yesterday. I drove to Kealakeua today and spoke with my CP since I needed a refill for the small bottle of prescription she gave me is about out! I asked her about the DMSO 10% Fluconazole prescription. The CP confirmed that if my skin is feeling raw or burned to only apply it once a day or not at all until I feel ready to apply it again. She confirmed that it looks like the prescription is beginning to heal my rosacea. So that is good news! And I learned that my CP has rosacea too! I asked her if she has tried this prescription on herself? She said no. I think she is waiting for this red guinea pig to show some results. The sacrifices I make for rosacea are to be noted and that is why this diary is written for all rosaceans. I applied the prescription just before bed. The stinging lasted maybe a couple of minutes.
Day Sixteen May 4
More skin peeling this morning. The redness is reduced this morning. Two of the three pimples are healing while the third one still is red but no longer sore any more. I hate discussing individual pimples. After I shower and wash my face the redness appears more pronounced again. It appears that this prescription seems to be pulling whatever is causing the redness of the rosacea to the surface and then the skin peels. One application a day I am handling and the stinging is less now, just a few minutes. The nightime application lasted about three minutes tonight. I am applying light applications of the prescription on the rosacea. It gets redder upon applying it.
Day Seventeen May 5
This morning the pimples are just about healed. I am so happy to see them going away. My face today seems redder after I wash off the dead skin peels. During the day the redness of the rosacea spots are more pronounced. The sun is a bit of an irritation to my face so I tried to stay in the shade as much as possible. I try to wear a hat too! I should make a photo of me in my hat. The nightime application of the prescription stung for about three minutes. See my photo on May 5 but now hat. Here I am below. If you click on the photo don't get scared when I pop up all over your screen!
Day Eighteen May 6
When I wake up in the morning the redness from the rosacea is really toned down. The skin peeling continues and both my wife and I agree that this appears to be working to heal the rosacea. Put bedtime application and the stinging is still about three minutes to four.
Day Nineteen May 7
More skin peeling which I wash off gently with cold water. I put 50 SPF sunblock on today because I have to work in the sun and I think maybe the sun has been triggering my rosacea or I am burning from the sun. I do live in a very sunny state. I also wear a hat with a brim. After I finished working and took a shower I noticed the redness was reduced somewhat. I think the sun has been a big trigger factor for me. My face doesn't burn as much either. Duh. I guess I will wear sunblock more. I hate putting it on, but I guess the consequences of not putting on sunblock is very obvious. The nightime application stinging lasted about three or four minutes.
Day Twenty May 8
I didn't realize I could peel this much skin! The skin peeling is obviously working. The redness is so much gone in the morning when I wake up. My wife and I both agree that this prescription is working. I continue to have high hopes that this is indeed healing my rosacea. One application a day is what I tolerate best. I applied sunblock today. I am going to try to put it on when I go outdoors from now on. Ugh. I hate having to put it on but all the 'authorities' say rosaceans should put on sunblock. Ok, uncle. I give in. I bought Ocean Potion Oil Free Sport Extreme Sunblock Broad Spectrum SPF 50, UVA1, UVA2, UVB Protection with Parsol® 1789 Protects Against Premature Aging, Water & Sweat Resistant. www.option.com I like the feel of it on my face. It seems to help too. I even put it on my ears since they tend to get the sun and turn just as red as my face! During the day the sunblock definitely helps soothe the skin and reduces my redness from the rosacea. I put the prescription on just before bed and the stinging lasted three or four minutes. I woke up at 12:45 AM which technically is May 9 but I am including it on this day's diary. The skin has already peeled! I applied a second application of the prescription since I want to find out what happens and more stinging for about three minutes. Remember, the bottle says 'Apply Twice a Day' so I am only following doctor's orders. When I wake up I want to see what it does to my face.
Day Twenty-One May 9
Woke up this morning and the skin peeling was incredible. I had my wife take a photo shot of my face with the peeling. The rosacea is reduced as you will see whenever I get the photo developed, scanned, and placed below... Anyway, my face doesn't feel raw or burnt and feels fine. I washed my face and got all the skin peels off, put on my sunblock and you can see the difference with the photo to the right [forthcoming]. The sunblock is really toning down the redness. I put on the prescription at bedtime and the stinging is still three or four minutes.
Day Twenty Two May 10
The redness has reduced more today. The rosacea is healing up. The skin peeling is still happening, not as much as yesterday morning and easily washes off with water. I am beginning to believe this prescription works. I stayed indoors today working on the computer and phone so I was not in the sun. My face is doing much better and the red glow has reduced dramatically. I am convinced that the skin peeling has exposed fresh new skin and the sun has been doing a number on my rosacea, triggering it and causing a dramatic red glow. From now on I am using sunblock everytime I go outdoors. The nightime stinging of the application lasted four minutes.
Day Twenty Three May 11
This morning the skin peeling is about the same as usual. It is truly amazing how much skin I can peel. This obviously has some beneficial healing for rosacea since I do look better every day. The sunblock has definitely helped today to tone the red down. The nightime application of the prescription stung about four minutes. I put some on a pimple that developed on my right cheek near my nose. Ugh.
Day Twenty Four May 12
Skin peeling as usual. I still am amazed at how much skin I can peel. Applied the sunblock. The redness is toned down today. At bedtime I applied a light application to the rosacea and extra on the pimple I told you about yesterday. The stinging lasted about four mintues.
Day Twenty Five May 13
Usual skin peeling. The prescription seems to reduce the pimple I mentioned yesterday. I have decided to stop applying the medication for a week to see what happens to my face.
Day Twenty Six May 14
This morning the rosacea is about the same as yesterday. Very little skin peeling, just a few flakes which washed off easily. I put sunblock on since I am working today outdoors. As I said yesterday, this is day two with no application of the prescription to let my face heal for a week to notice the difference. The redness is still pronounced with the rosacea but it does seem to be reduced somewhat.
Day Twenty Seven May 15
This morning there were only just a few tiny skin peels that easily washed off with water and sulphur soap. The rosacea redness is calming down but still noticeable. I am giving Dave Fleming some credit here by telling you he suggested letting my face heal for 28 days and he has some interesting information about why '28 days' if you want to ask him. I told him I would not put on the prescription for a week to see if there is any difference. My face does seem to be healing up rather nicely today. Maybe stoping the prescription and allowing time for the healing of the skin isn't such a bad idea after all. Thanks Dave!
Day Twenty Eight May 16
I can't believe that my skin is still peeling! Not a whole lot but nevertheless, it is still peeling. I have developed a couple of pimples which are painful. The rosacea has really calmed down and the redness is reduced. This is the fourth day I have not applied the prescription. I think I will put some on that nasty pimple since it hurts so much.
Day Twenty Nine May 17
This is weird, more skin peeling and this is the now the fifth day I have NOT applied the prescription! Rosacea is continuing to be less and less. The pimple is going away.
Day Thirty May 18
There is even more skin peeling but not as much as yesterday! The redness has gone down a bit more. I decided to put the prescription on just before bed. It stung for about five minutes but the intensity of the sting seems less.
Day Thirty One May 19
This morning the rosacea seems even less than last night when I applied the prescription! Some skin peeling has begun in areas I applied the prescription. My rosacea is improved today. After applying the prescription tonight just before bed it did not sting with the intensity it has usually but it did last about five minutes.
Day Thirty Two May 20
This morning the rosacea is better. I am very hopeful that this prescription is working and convinced there is some merit in using it. The skin peeling is not very much this morning. The nighttime application of the prescription was less stinging intensity again and felt sort of hot rather than stinging. The difference is noticeable.
Day Thirty Three May 21
This morning some skin peeling is again increased. The rosacea in the morning is remarkably reduced but when I wash the skin peels off gently the rosacea increases in redness. Applied the sunblock and off to work. During the day the rosacea seems better and the redness is calmed down some. Applied the nighttime application and the same 'hotness' is felt rather than the stinging.
Day Thirty Four May 22
This morning I noticed the rosacea is calmed down again and more skin peeling. I don't have to go out today so I am just having a great time at home doing computer business. I have a couple of very tiny scabs develope where there is some rosacea pustules that are drying up. It appears that the prescription dries up the pustules. I have no painful pustules and my face does look much better. Photos are forthcoming. I am musing on how or why this prescription is working to heal my rosacea? It depends on what causes rosacea and the jury on that is still out. I personally feel that rosacea is a breakdown of the immune system. Because of taking antibiotics for over ten years to control this disease I think that my body's immune system got worse and cannot heal what is on my face whether it is bacteria, fungus or yeast. By not eating sugar and high carbohydrate this starves whatever is growing on my face which helps to control it by changing my blood to a glucagon dominant one. I am still currently on my Rosacea Diet and I wash my face with sulphur soap. The DMSO 1% Fluconazole is helping my immune system to heal the rosacea. That is my current thought on this process. My rosacea looks better today than in the past thirty-three days and I hope to eliminate it with this prescription. Time will tell if it will. The application before bed is 'hot' but doesn't sting for about four or five minutes.
Day Thirty Five May 23
More skin peeling this morning. The redness is dramatically reduced! I am very happy with this prescription. My rosaacea is dramatically reduced when I wake up. After I wash the skin peeling off my rosacea flares up red again. Wierd. It does calm down after about a half hour or so. I put two applications on: one in the early evening and once more just before bed. A nasty pustule is developing on the end of my nose. I hate those since they are so painful! I put extra DMSO 1% Fluconazole prescription on it! May the pustule dry up! The first application was hot for about five minutes while the second application was only mildly hot for less time.
Day Thirty Six May 24
I think this prescription does reduce pustules, but it is only a preliminary thought. No doubt I will have more opportunities trying this out. The rosacea is reduced in the morning and after washing off the skin peeling it is again flared up for about a half hour. But the overall appearance is that the rosacea is healing up slowly. This does take a long time to work. Maybe 1% Fluconazole is too slow?
Day Thirty Seven May 25
Some skin peeling. After washing the rosacea turns red again. I can tell that it is healing up but there it is still red. I only apply very light application of the prescription on some of the pustules and rosacea. Very light stinging.
Day Thirty Eight May 26
A little skin peeling and washing off causes the rosacea to beam bright. After calming down in about a half hour I apply SPF 50 sunblock and my face is looking better. I am laying off the prescription for a while to let my skin heal up. This skin peeling does a number on the rosacea and my skin. Time to heal. No application tonight. First thing in the morning and I am a sight for sore eyes or sore face. The flash from the camera made me blind and was as stimulating as a cup of coffee! This is embarassing to have my face like this all over the internet (or in an ebook)!
Day Thirty Nine May 27
Much better in the morning. Still the skin peels. I wash and again the rosacea beams red. Sunblock today. Swam in the ocean and it does help the rosacea. Cool salt water, lots of sun block. No application, just letting my skin heal.
Day Forty May 28
A little skin peeling but hardly noticeable. Rosacea still present but I think it is healing up. No application of the medication today.
Day Forty One May 29
My rosacea is still visiable but appears to be better. My skin is healed up enough. I applied the prescription just before going to bed and it only stings a little for about a minute or two in just a few places.
Day Forty Two May 30
This morning the rosacea is better - toned down. Some new skin peeling is evident. Stayed out of the sun today. Applied prescription on my rosacea just before bed and the stinging was evident for about three or four minutes.
Day Forty Three May 31
This morning the rosacea is definitely toned down and the skin peeling is noteworthy. After washing my face and carefully removing the skin peeling the rosacea turns bright red. The prescription seems to be bringing whatever is going on with rosacea to the surface and glows very red! The funny part is that it appears to be healing yet the rosacea is still there. My guess is to let my skin heal up from the dose I gave it last night. It appears that frequent applications are not the ticket and that infrequent ones are better. My rosacea is red today. I am not applying the prescription at all today and will wait until my face is better healed.
Day Forty Four June 1
Rosacea still evident but toned down a bit. I think I will wait another day before applying the prescription again.
Day Forty Five June 2
Rosacea is still evident and appears to be healing and my face is healed up enough for another application which I did apply before bed. The stinging is reduced considerably to a minimum, not as intense, for about three or four minutes and mostly feels hot.
Day Forty Six June 3
This morning the rosacea is dramatically reduced! Then after I wash the skin peels off the rosacea glows bright red again. The spots are reducing some. I am not going to apply the medication today. I am going to wait a couple of days.
Day Forty Seven June 4
Skin peeling again. The rosacea is again toned down in the morning and then bright red after washing my face. I apply sun block today since I am going outside. No application of the med today.
Day Forty Eight June 5
Same as the previous day. Nothing new to report.
Day Forty Nine June 6
Some skin peeling this morning. The rosacea is still evident and noticeably healing. No application of the med today.
Day Fifty June 7
Can you believe more skin peeling? This medication keeps on working days after applied! My rosacea does look better.
Day Fifty One June 8
The skin peeling continues. When I wash it off my face turns bright red where the rosacea is. It looks like new skin healing up but the rosacea is obviously there. No application of the medication today.
Day Fifty Two June 9
I can't believe how the skin continues to peel! It is mind boggling. After I wash the skin peels off my rosacea glows absolutely red. Today I can say that my rosacea is very bad. I don't know what happened. I have ordered a prescription of DMSO 10% Fluconozale from the doctor who agreed to let me try it. I am hopeful that the 10% is better. I will wait days or perhaps a week between applications. The prescription is expected to arrive today by the shipper. My wife says that I have a break out of small pustules behind my left ear. I cannot see this of course, but my wife muses that the rosacea is running away from the face and is hiding from the DMSO 10% Fluconozale that is coming! I am going to blast the buggers as soon as it comes. And it came today! I immediately opened the box and found the CLEAR solution of 15 ml DMSO 10% Fluconozale. It again says on the bottle "Apply Twice Daily". This is very important to understand that the clear solution is better. Rosaceans do not need to have red dye from Diflucan in this prescription on the face. We have enough red now don't we? Who knows what red dye would do to a rosacean but I used the wrong presciption for about fifty days with the red dye in the prescription. Please don't make the same mistake I did. I did put it on and it stung for a couple of minutes and that's it. Weird. I thought for sure it would sting more. After about a half hour my face felt better than before and the redness of the rosacea reduced! Go figure. This stuff is amazing. I had not applied the 1% Solution for a week. My rosacea seems better after the initial application! I am going to apply it once more tonight just before going to bed.
Day Fifty Three June 10
Wow! More skin peeling. The 10% definitely is more powerful. I have areas that have dried up overnight into skin peels and the redness is reduced and papules are drying up! After washing off the skin peels the redness comes back apparently as new skin. This may be just inflammed skin under the surface of the skin peels that are visible. My immune system may be trying to heal or kick in and the redness is due to the prescription killing whatever is causing the rosacea. I am going to wait for my skin to heal up before applying another dose since this is ten times more powerful than the 1% Fluconozale.
Day Fifty Four June 11
The evidence is that this medication continues to work it's 'magic' or whatever it does for days or that the immune system is still working to clean up what the medication did. My skin is still peeling dramatically this morning. All the papules have dried up. My wife's opinion is that this medication is drying up the papules and she confirms that the redness is reduced when I wake up in the morning and after washing my face the redness of the new skin underneath the peeled skin is there. No application of the medication today.
Day Fifty Five June 12
Wow is there a lot of skin peeling! I don't know how my face can keep making new skin like this. My current thought on this is that the skin peeling produces a lot of new growth skin which is very red when exposed after washing with a mild soap and water. It is difficult to distinguish whether this is rosacea or new skin redness. Whatever. Anyway, I am in agreement with the guru of DMSO 1% Diflucan that using the DMSO 10% Diflucan is ten times stronger and the skin peeling is greater. Ergo: Wait for the skin to heal before applying further application. So I am waiting. The one thing I also noticed is that the pustules dry up and harden, some with scab like surfaces overnight! No application of the med today. The other thing I noticed with the stronger med is that the hot facial feeling of the rosacea goes away. I applied my sunblock today.
Day Fifty Six June 13
More skin peeling. There is definitely a noticeable improvement in my rosacea. The skin looks like it is healing up and the redness is reduced somewhat. I applied my sunblock today. My current thought on rosacea is that there is some entitity that is causing the rosacea like either the demodex mite, a fungus, a parasite, or some unknown 'bugger.' I have not proof of course, but you may follow my logic if you like. When I apply the DMSO 1% Diflucan to my rosacea it stings like the dickens. Whether it is the DMSO or the Diflucan that causes the stinging I can't figure out, but if I apply the medication to non-rosacea facial skin or any other non-rosacea skin there is no stinging. Now what would you conclude that if you apply this medication to rosacea it stings and when you appply it to non-rosacea skin it doesn't sting? Do the math. The more I apply the medication the less it stings. When I applied the 10% Diflucan the stinging was less but you have to take into account that I have been using the 1% Diflucan for over fifty days. By afternoon after being out in the Hawaiian sun all day even with 50 SPF sunblock my face is hot and red. I have cooled down with a cold shower and washed my face with a mild soap and my face has cooled down. I did apply a drop of the Diflucan to three zits that were red and beginning to dry up first thing in the morning and by afternoon they were completely dried up. The temptation to apply the medication all over my face is overwhelming but I know that my face needs to heal up from the mega dose I gave it on June 10.
Day Fifty Seven June 14
A little skin peeling. The redness is still there but is reduced again. No application of the medication today.
Day Fifty Eight June 15
The redness is still there but again is noticeably reduced. The healing is obviously working again. No application of the medication today. I couldn't find my sulphur soap here so I bought a bar of Cetaphil and Neutragena to try. The Cetaphil seems comfortable. No application of medication today.
Day Fifty Nine June 16
This morning the redness is reduced and my face does look better. I still keep getting tiny pustules which are not painful but irritating to look at. The skin peeling is still going on but not as dramatic. I do like using the Cetaphil soap and salute Galderma for making a soap that feels good to the skin. I never realized how harsh the sulphur soap was until I began using Cetaphil. My dermatologist in Albuquerque recommended sulphur soap to me over twenty years ago and it was ingrained in me to only use it on my face. But I prefer the Cetaphil at the moment. Maybe because the prescription causes skin peeling and I need a gentle soap for the fresh new skin? No application of medication today.
Day Sixty June 17
The Cetaphil soap is great. I know I sound like I am selling it but my face feels better after using it. More skin peeling again, not much. The redness or rosacea is still evident but looks like it is healing. No application today.
Day Sixty One June 18
Only a few tiny pustules this morning. The redness or rosacea is still evident in a few places and my forehead has a few spots of rosacea. I did not apply the 10% on my forehead on June 9 so I know the forehead has rosacea. The forehead rosacea are nine small spots, one about the size of a dime and the rest are smaller than a dime. I applied the prescription medication at 2:30 PM and it stung for about ten minutes and then felt hot. After about a half hour it felt great and the redness reduces dramatically. I put on a second application just before going to bed and it stung for about five minutes and then felt hot again.
Day Sixty Two June 19
More skin peeling! The redness is dramatically reduced but when I wash my face the redness comes back just as dramatically. I applied another application again at 2:00 PM and the redness is reduced again! It stung again for about five minutes, felt hot for about ten more mintues and then my face felt very comfortable. I did apply the medication again today just before bed.
Day Sixty Three June 20
Much skin peeling this morning! The redness is toned way down! But after I wash all the skin peeling off carefully the skin underneath is red. I have to be extremely careful when removing skin or bleeding occurs. Some skin I just leave on until later. A couple of spots started bleeding about the size of a small cut when I shave. After about a half hour or so the redness does tone down some, but is still evident. When I use the Cetaphil soap it really calms down the tender skin that has been exposed after the skin peeling and is soothing. I did not apply the medication today. Time for skin healing again. Washed my face with Cetaphil just before bed and it does feel good on my skin.
Day Sixty Four June 21
More skin peeling this morning. This medication keeps on working even after repeated Cetaphil use! Amazing, isn't it? I have to be careful removing the skin peeling to avoid bleeding. No application of the medicine today. Skin healing up nicely. The redness is reduced dramatically this morning before the washing with the Cetaphil. I am going to wait at least a week before repeating the medication application again.
Day Sixty Five June 22
More skin peeling. I have changed my soap to Neutragena and it seems to keep the redness down due to a suggestion that Cetaphil stimulates redness. Ok I am initially convinced. My redness is better and the rosacea seems to be healing. No application today.
Day Sixty Six June 23
More skin peeling. More Neutragena. Redness calming down a bit. But it was cloudy today so I didn't think I needed sunscreen. Big mistake. I will never do that again. I got burned and I am red as a beet. That is how wisdom is supposed to set it. No application today.
Day Sixty Seven June 24
More skin peeling. This medication is really powerful stuff when it continues to peel skin days after application! My face is healing up rather nicely despite the minor sun burn. No pustules to speak of except for some very tiny ones. The medicine appears to dry up pustules without a doubt. No application today.
Day Sixty Eight June 25
A little skin peeling and nothing much to report. No application.
Day Sixty Nine June 26
My face is healed up enough that I decided to apply the medication tonight just before bed. It did sting for about five minutes or less.
Day Seventy June 27
I had some skin peeling and a pustule on my nose dried up significantly. I feel that this medication does dry up pustules. The redness after washing with Cetaphil is significant again and my face is unusually redder today due to the new skin under the peeling that was exposed. I am not applying the medication today and letting my skin heal again from the application last night.
Day Seventy One June 28
This morning the redness is calmed down a bit. More skin peeling. I actually prefer the Cetaphil soap even though it makes my skin red after using it. The reason? I tried the Neutragena which may have reduced the redness a little (but not that much difference) but didn't make my face feel calmer. For some reason the Cetaphil makes my skin feel calmer and less painful after applying the medication (the DMSO 10% Fluconazole). No application today and this is the day I made the diary a commercial product for rosaceans which was a big mistake since I got some much criticism for selling this diary that I changed it about three or four days later to a donation basis. So now you have it for free. No application of the medication.
Day Seventy Two June 29
Some skin peeling. No application of the medication. Same redness which looks like
rosacea. Used sunblock.
Day Seventy Three June 30
Some skin peeling. No application of the medication. Same redness which looks like rosacea. Used Sunblock. No application.
Day Seventy Four July 1
Some skin peeling. My face is less red in the morning and when I wash, again the redness is greater. I decided no drink coffee at all today. Wow. What a decision. I am trying this as an experiment to see if coffee does make my face redder and if I stop will it help? I couldn't tell today but I took two asprin this morning instead. No application of medication.
Very cloudy today, no sunblock.
Day Seventy Five July 2
Some skin peeling. My face seems a bit less red. Two days without coffee. My wife says she thinks it is helping my face be less red, but remember that she is encouraging me to not drink coffee. She is a tea totaler. I am going to stay off coffee to see if it makes any difference. I hope it doesn't since I like coffee. It is weird without coffee. I took two aspirin tabs first thing in the morning. No application of the DMSO 10% Diflucan. I am going to let my face heal up for another week so come back in a week or so.
Day Seventy Six July 3
The skin peeling continues. I don't know how I can peel this much skin? I still haven't drunk any coffee. My face this morning seems a bit better but still red. A few white
pustules are forming, very small. I drank two double Scotches in the evening. No application of medication.
Day Seventy Seven July 4
I paid for those two drinks. My face is redder today. My wife gave me the 'I told you so and enjoyed every minute of it. I guess she is right. It is written on my face in red. More skin peeling and I have two pustules on my nose! No coffee. I applied some of the DMSO 10% Diflucan on the two pustules as an experiment and on every tiny white pustule I see (about six).
Day Seventy Eight July 5
My nose is better. The two pustules are drying up. DMSO 10% Diflucan works magic on pustules! Within twelve hours you can see the difference. They are drying up! How does it work? So tonight I am again applying the medication only on pustules that I can see about half a dozen and on my nose again.
Day Seventy Nine July 6
My face is calmer and the red is reduced when I wake up. Skin peeling, even on
my nose! I wash and of course the skin underneath the skin peeling is red as a rose. But I can see some difference and the healing. I applied the medication on my nose again and on the few pustules again just before going to bed. Very light application just on the pustules.
Day Eighty July 7
This morning I woke up early since I couldn't sleep. I have not had coffee for a week and no alcohol for five days. I am becoming a teetotaller. My wife is so happy. I want Scotch. So you have to factor this in since my face is looking better this morning. I am drinking Stash Premium Licorice Spice caffeine free herbal tea (www.stashtea.com) I like it. I have been taking two aspirin every morning for the first six days but have not taken any aspirin since yesterday. I usually have one or two drinks of Scotch on the weekends but I am going to try an experiment of no alcohol for a month to see if this helps clear up my skin. You see I have three scabs from the drying up of the pustules on my nose. There are about three other scabs from dried up pustules on my face. The skin peeling is still going on. My face is not red this morning but I know it will turn bright red after I wash it and remove the skin peeling carefully. The problem with the removal of skin is that sometimes it bleeds and then there is another scab on my face. But, I must admit that I think in the long run this medication is working and I am in it for the long haul which according to Dave maybe many months. I hope it isn't that long but anyway, I will report what I find out. No application today.
Day Eighty One July 8
My face is noticeably better today. No coffee for just over a week and no alcohol for five days. Maybe that has something to do with a clearer face? There is still some skin peeling but not as much. No application of the medication today.
Day Eighty Two July 9
A little skin peeling but not much. My face is getting better today. Sunscreen on today since I am working outside. I still have some red spots on my forehead that are noticeable. Some redness also on my cheeks and my nose. A few tiny pustules. No application of the med today.
Day Eighty Three July 10
Some skin peeling again and the redness is still evident. No application.
Day Eighty Four July 11
Today at 1:30 PM I applied the DMSO 10% Fluconazole to just the rosacea on my face.
Within about an hour the redness is reduced. I am waiting two weeks before giving myself another application. I only applied it once to the rosacea only.
Day Eighty Five July 12
Much better this morning. Some skin peeling of course. After washing my face of the skin peeling the new skin underneath is very red. Stayed home today working on web sites and email. No application.
Day Eighty Six July 13
A little skin peeling and my face does look better today and the redness has reduced. No application.
Day Eighty Seven July 14
Some insignificant skin peeling this morning and the redness is further reduced. A few tiny pustules are visible. My skin looks much better today. No application.
Day Eighty Eight July 15
My face is peeling a lot this morning. Who can figure this medication? Redness down to practically zero. But after I wash the skin off you guessed it, red again but not as much as before. I have been a teetotaller now for over ten days. And no coffee for over two weeks. I am even drinking Triple Ginseng Caffeine Free Herbal Tea and Celestial Seasonings Vanilla Hazelnut Caffeine Free Herb Tea. What have I become? I miss coffee but the evidence is on my face. I may have to revise my Rosacea Diet on coffee. And of course this medication is working on my rosacea too. I didn't put sunscreen on today. Bad idea. I got sunburned. Not good. No application.
Day Eighty Nine July 16
My face is peeling only a bit and I am red from sunburn. But today I am wearing my sunblock. My face looks pretty good considering the sunburn makes me redder. No application.
Day Ninety July 17
Very little skin peeling today. My redness has reduced some. I have not applied the
medication since day eighty four and I am waiting a full two weeks before applying it again unless I am tempted to put it on pustules to dry them up. Right now I have no major pustules but only have a few tiny ones with no pain. I haven't had coffee for seventeen days and no alcohol for thirteen days. I am practically a saint except for my red face. No application.
Day Ninety One July 18
My face is still peeling some skin, not much and is still red with rosacea or sunburn. No application of medication.
Day Ninety Two July 19
A little skin peeling. A few tiny white pustules. Not much difference. No application of medication.
Day Ninety Three July 20
Same as yesterday. No application.
Day Ninety Four July 21
Same as yesterday except that on my nose I have two tiny pustules that developed scabs after I popped them. No application of medication.
Day Ninety Five July 22
I noticed today that the rosacea seems to be more on my forehead than before. The redness on my cheeks and nose are still there. I still have skin peeling. No application of medication.
Day Ninety Six July 23
My nose is better today but the rosacea spots on my forehead are still visible however the rosacea on my cheeks and nose seems better. I have been very strict this week on diet and kept to less than thirty grams of carbs per day and am drinking lots of water. No application of the medication today.
Day Ninety Seven July 24
I have never had rosacea on my forehead before. I wonder if it is true that the little mites are running away from my cheeks and nose where I have been applying the medication? Anyway, I can assure you that my rosacea is still evident. My wife insists that she thinks my cheeks and face are better. I notice that when I stress my rosacea seems to flare up and then when I am relaxed my face is better. Next week I am going to town to buy a camera so I can show you. Wish I had a digital camera again. I applied the DMSO Diflucan in the afternoon.
Day Ninety Eight July 25
Skin peeling this morning! It did reduce the rosacea again. I used Ivory Soap this time to shave and take the skin peeling off. The redness is not as red when I use Cetaphil. I applied another application of the DMSO Diflucan again just before going to bed. I have two pustules (both painful) on the middle of my forehead. I can't figure out why this is happening to my forehead. I am very strict with my Rosacea Diet. I have cut out coffee and alcohol. The only other thing is to reduce my stress which is the only other factor.
Day One Ninety Nine July 26
This morning there was even more skin peeling. My wife says that the medication is helping. Sometimes I have doubts. The redness from the rosacea is reduced again. I shaved again with Ivory soap and removed the skin peeling and the redness is more pronounced after this, but it is not as bad as when I used Cetaphil. I think Cetaphil is out from now on. Just plain old Ivory bar soap. This medication is not a quick fix obviously since I have been trying it for so long now. I still will keep trying with this but apparently since I waited thirteen days before applying another application my rosacea returned. Maybe I need to apply it more often? I will try again in a week to see if it makes any difference. I get so little feedback from readers of this diary that I feel it is a waste of time writing it, but maybe for some history reason I will keep doing it. Writing it and converting to pdf is easier than html, so I guess it is worth it. I applied the DMSO Diflucan again to some pustules and on some rosacea on my cheeks with light application.
Day One Hundred July 27
This morning more skin peeling. I read that Alpha Lipoic Acid Vitamin C Ester DMAE cream like Dr. Perricone's product may help heal the skin. There is only one other rosacean I know who is trying the DMSO Diflcuan and is posting in my rosaceans group who hasn't left the group. I hope he posts his results to compare his findings. Anyway, the pustules and rosacea are better this morning. I did apply the DMSO Diflucan again with light applications on the pustules and some of the rosacea just before bed.
Day One Hundred One July 28
This morning my rosacea redness is reduced again and my skin is peeling also. After washing my face with Ivory and letting it dry I applied an astringent of Witch Hazel, let it dry and then applied equate Oil of Beauty Original Formula Moisturizing Cream all over my forehead and face. Now that felt good. Really calms the raw skin from the application of the DMSO Diflucan. I did not rub or peel of the skin peeling but simply applied the moisturizing cream to blend in the skin peeling. After this dried for over an hour I applied SPF 50 Sunblock. At the end of the day I washed my face with Ivory and my face is looking much better than the last four days. Much better. The rosacea redness is toned down quite a bit. I must give some credit to Dave Fleming who recommended using a cream after the application of the DMSO Diflucan. I don't have what he recommends but I used what I had and it worked. I applied the DMSO Diflucan again lightly only on the pustules which are only a few and on the remaining rosacea red spots on my cheeks and a dab on my nose. The stinging is noticeably reduced but I do feel some stinging when I apply the prescription.
Day One Hundred Two July 29
I did notice my rosacea redness reduced some today. I had some skin peeling this morning. A friend suggested using IsaDermix Skin Renewal System which I did today. I used Phase I (Dermal Cleanse) , skipped Phase 2 (Microdermabrasion Treatment which I thought would be a bit too much for my skin right now), Phase 3 (Replenishing Toner), Phase 4 (Vitamin C Collagen Serum, which I really liked and it soothed the skin after the DMSO 10 % Diflucan treatment), and Phase 5 ( A.M. Hydrating Cream - SPF 30) and went through the day. My skin seemed a little bit improved, but not really noticeable. Tonight I did not use the DMSO 10 % Fluconazole but instead used Phase 6 (P.M. Replenishing Cream).
Day One Hundred Three July 30
I didn't notice any difference in the morning and went through Phase 3, 4 and 5 from the IsaDermix Skin Renewal System. I used Ivory Soap to wash and shave my face. Before bed I applied the DMSO 10 % Fluconazole again on my rosacea red spots on my face and forehead.
Day One Hundred Four July 31
I noticed a reduction in the redness this morning. I only applied Phase 5 after I washed and shaved my face with Ivory Soap and noticed that this IsaDermix Phase 5 AM Hydrating Cream reduces the red and has SPF 30. Applied DMSO 10% Fluconazole again on the same rosacea red spots on my face and forehead just before bed. I am not using Phase 1, 2, or 6. It would not be a good idea to use IsaDermix Phase 6 just after DMSO 10 % Fluconazole.
Day One Hundred Five Aug 1
Notice some improvement in the redness of my rosacea this morning. I washed with Ivory Soap and shave also with it. Applied IsaDermix Phase 4 (Vitamin C Collagen Serum) and IsaDermix Phase 5 AM Hydrating Cream (SPF 30) and again noticed a reduction in the redness of my face. Applied the DMSO Fluconazole again on the same rosacea red spots on my face and forehead just before bed. Someone suggested I try rubbing papaya skin peelings on my face to see if this would help my rosacea. I did just before going to bed all over my face and forehead.
Day One Hundred Six Aug 2
The papaya skin peels did nothing I could observe. My face remained the same. I washed and shaved with Ivory Soap and then applied IsaDermix Phase 4 (Vitamin C Collagen Serum) and IsaDermix Phase 5 AM Hydrating Cream (SPF 30) and again noticed a reduction in the redness of my face. I applied DMSO 10% Fluconazole again on the same rosacea red spots on my face and forehead just before bed. I am not using Phase 1, 2, or 6. It would not be a good idea to use Phase 6 just after DMSO 10 % Fluconazole nor Phase 2 which is the Microdermabrasion Treatment. I am a bit weary of trying that now.
Day One Hundred Seven Aug 3
A dramatic reduction in the rosacea redness and pustules. My faith in DMSO 10 % Fluconazole is renewed. I was having doubts. I have been off alcohol for over thirty days and no coffee for twenty nine days. I applied IsaDermix Phase 4 (Vitamin C Collagen Serum) and IsaDermix Phase 5 AM Hydrating Cream (SPF 30) and again noticed a reduction in the redness of my face. I am beginning to believe that the success of the DMSO 10 % Fluconazole is directly related to using the IsaDermix Phase 4 (Vitamin C Collagen Serum) and Phase 5 (A.M. Hydrating Cream - SPF 30) but it is too early to tell for certain. My spirit is improved and I feel that I am on the right track now. I must admit that Dave Fleming is right about having some sort of moisturizing cream after using the DMSO 10 % Fluconazole. He recommends a Vitamin C cream that Dr. Perricone sells and it probably would be a good one to try. However I am using the IsaDermix Phase 4 Vitamin C Collagen Serum and IsaDermix Phase 5 AM Hydrating Cream (SPF 30 which seems to improve my rosacea. I hope it continues to make a difference along with the DMSO Diflucan. Applied the DMSO 10% Diflucan just before bed. The stinging is less intense and lasts about three minutes.
Day One Hundred Eight Aug 4
Skin peeling this morning. When I apply the IsaDermix Phase 4 (Vitamin C Collagen Serum) and IsaDermix Phase 5 AM Hydrating Cream (SPF 30) it blends the skin peeling into the skin and feels comfortable. Today I drank my first cup of coffee in thirty days. I can only tell you that it was one of the best cups of coffee I ever drank and my face remained fine. My rosacea is much improved. I am hopeful that this combination works. Applied the DMSO 10% Fluconazole just before bed and it stings less and only for a few minutes.
Day One Hundred Nine Aug 5
Same as yesterday and I am drinking two cups of coffee in the morning again with no ill effects.
Day One Hundred Ten Aug 6
Same as yesterday with the wonderful news that I drank my first drink of alcohol (one shot of Dewar's Scotch) in the evening with no ill effects.
Dan One Hundred Eleven Aug 7
Skin peeling again but today I did not put on the IsaDermix Phase 4 (Vitamin C Collagen Serum) and IsaDermix Phase 5 AM Hydrating Cream (SPF 30) since I stayed home today. Applied the DMSO 10% Diflucan and it stings minimally now for a few minutes. Two cups of coffee in the morning and one shot of Jack Daniel's at night with no ill effects. My face is getting clearer and clearer.
Day One Hundred Twleve Auy 8
The skin peeling continues and the IsaDermix Phase 4 (Vitamin C Collagen Serum) and IsaDermix Phase 5 AM Hydrating Cream (SPF 30) continues to blend the skin peeling into the skin and feels comfortable. This combination is working and my rosacea is absolutely better today than ever and only a few rosacea spots remain. Small pustules continue to erupt but are easily managed since the DMSO 10% Diflucan dries up pustules without a doubt. Two cups of coffee in the morning and one shot of Ron Centrenario Anejo Especial Reserva (in the evening) with no ill effects.
Day One Hundred Thirteen Aug 9
Skin peeling again and the same application of IsaDermix Phase 4 (Vitamin C Collagen Serum) and IsaDermix Phase 5 AM Hydrating Cream (SPF 30) it blends the skin peeling into the skin and feels comfortable. My face is healing up and looks even better today. Applied the DMSO 10% Fluconazole just before bed and the stinging is not as intense and only for a few minutes. Photos forthcoming.
Day One Hundred Fourteen Aug 10
A little skin peeling today but not much. I applied just the IsaDermix Phase 5 AM Hydrating Cream (SPF 30) today and went in the ocean today swimming for an hour. Applied the DMSO 10% Fluconazole just before bed and the stinging is not as intense and only for a few minutes.
Day One Hundred Fifteen Aug 11
Not much skin peeling today. I only washed with ivory soap and did not apply the IsaDermix products today. Applied the DMSO 10% Fluconazole just before bed and the stinging only lasted a few minutes and is less than before and not too bad. I have some rosacea spots on my forehead again which I applied the prescription on.
Day One Hundred Sixteen Aug 12
There is more skin peeling today, more than yesterday. Applied the IsaDermix Phase 4 (Vitamin C Collagen Serum) and IsaDermix Phase 5 AM Hydrating Cream (SPF 30) it blends the skin peeling into the skin. Applied the DMSO 10% Fluconazole just before bed and the stinging is not as intense and only for a few minutes.
Day One Hundred Seventeen Aug 13
More skin peeling but the same regime used yeterday seems to be working. I have a pustule forming on my chin. You know the kind that you feel forming and if you touch it the pain is intense? I applied extra DMSO 10% Fluconazole on it. I ordered another bottle of this presciption drug from Michael Roberge, R.Ph., who is listed on my cp page.
Day One Hundred Eighteen Aug 14
Same as yesterday and the pustule forming yesterday has reduced in size and the pain is less.
Day One Hundred Nineteen Aug 15
Same as yesterday. The pustule is practically gone. I highly recommend DMSO 10% Fluconazole for pustules. I have run out of the DMSO 10% Fluconazole and am waiting for another bottle to be sent to me from my CP. I applied the DMSO 1% Fluconazole I have still in a bottle. This is the one with the red dye. I know I said it isn't a good idea to use it, but hey, I believe in this stuff and want this to work.
Day One Hundred Twenty Aug 16
I don't understand why the 1% increases skin peeling and hope that one day to understand what is happening. One thing about it, the redness is always reduced in the morning after using the DMSO Fluconazole whether it is 1% or 10%. The pustule on my chin is gone. I am using the IsaDermix Phase 5 AM Hydrating Cream only and ran out of the IsaDermix Phase 4. I am not applying the DMSO 1 % Fluconazole since I got a reaction to the increased skin peeling which increased my rosacea redness. My face is burning too. The logic is that since there is more DMSO in the 1% Fluconazole that it increases the skin peeling, but what do I know? I washed my face with Ivory Soap and applied IsaDermix Phase 6 just before bed.
Day One Hundred Twenty One Aug 17
This morning the skin peeling is still evident. I washed with Phase I and Phase 2 IsaDermix and then applied Phase 5 and my skin seems better. The Phase 2 is the microabrasion paste and it seems to be helpful. I am not applying the DMSO Fluconazole and waiting for the prescription of the DMSO 10% Fluconazole I ordered to arrive. Before bed I applied Phase I , Phase II IsaDermix , Phase 3, (skipped Phase 5) and then applied Phase 6.
Day One Hundred Twenty Two Aug 18
Same as yesterday. My skin is better after using Phase 5 since it improves the rosacea by reducing the redness during the day. Before bed I used the same regime as yesterday.
Day One Hundred Twenty Three Aug 19
Same as yesterday. Redness reduced when applying the Phase 5.
Day One Hundred Twenty Four Aug 20
Same as yesterday, expcept I received the DMSO 10% fluconazole and applied it just before bed and the experienced some stinging but not as intense as when I started using it for just two or three minutes. Have a few tiny pustules which I covered with the prescription. I am not applying the Phase 6 at night since I am applying the prescription DMSO 10% Fluconazole.
Day One Hundred Twenty Five Aug 21
Some skin peeling this morning but not as much as usual. The redness is reduced. Pustules are drying up. However, when carefully washing my face with ivory soap in the shower a small pustule begins to bleed. This no doubt is a result of the sensitive skin exposed after application of the DMSO 10 % Fluconazole. I shaved with Phase I and then applied the IsaDermix Phase 5 AM Hydrating Cream and this cream reduces the redness. Before bed I applied the DMSO 10% Fluconazole and it stung for a few minutes and felt hot.
Day One Hundred Twenty Six Aug 22
This morning more skin peeling and the redness is reduced. After washing in the shower with ivory soap my face is red again. I shaved with Phase I and then applied the IsaDermix Phase 5 AM Hydrating Cream and this cream reduces the redness. Before bed I applied Phase I , Phase 2 IsaDermix , Phase 3 and then applied Phase 6. I did not apply the DMSO 10 % Fluconazole and let my skin heal.
Day One Hundred Twenty Seven Aug 23
This morning the skin peeling is reduced along with the redness. I have some red spots on the top of the forehead near the hair line. A few red spots on my cheeks but my face is better today..I only used ivory soap today to wash my face and let my skin heal. I applied the DMSO 10 % Fluconazole just before bed after washing my face with Phase I .
Day One Hundred Twenty Eight Aug 24
This morning my face is peeling again but the rosacea seems to be going away. I have mused before that I think the rosacea went to my forehead due to the application of the DMSO 10% Fluconazole on my face. My face is definitely better than my forehead. I did not apply the prescription drug and washed with Phase I and applied at bedtime Phase 6.
Day One Hundred Twenty Nine Aug 25
This morning my face is improved and the rosacea redness is reduced and only a few spots on my forehead are visible and a few spots on my cheek. My nose is clear and very little skin peeling. I shaved with ivory soap and washed with Phase I , applied Phase 2 and then applied Phase 5. I applied DMSO 10% Fluconazole at bedtime.
Day One Hundred Thirty Aug 26
This morning my face is better than it has been since I started the DMSO Fluconazole! I used the Phase I to cleanse my face after I shaved with ivory soap, applied the Phase 2 and Phase 3 , then the IsaDermix Phase 5 AM Hydrating Cream before going outside today. At bed time I applied the Phase I to cleanse my face, the Phase 2 Microabrasion, also Phase 3 and then the Phase 6 PM Cream . I am going to alternate each night the prescription and then the IsaDermix non prescription.
Day One Hundred Thirty One Aug 27
My face looks pretty good this morning. Washed and shaved with ivory soap. Applied the IsaDermix Phase 5 AM Hydrating Cream (SPF 30) before going outside today. Washed with Phase I cleanser and I applied the DMSO 10 % Fluconazole at bedtime. Stinging is only for a couple of minutes and is less than before.
Day One Hundred Thirty Two Aug 28
Very little skin peeling today. Washed and shaved with ivory soap. Applied the IsaDermix Phase 5 AM Hydrating Cream (Spf 30) before going outside. Before bedtime I washed with ivory soap and applied the Phase 6 PM Cream .
Day One Hundred Thirty Three Aug 29
Washed and shaved with ivory soap. I applied the DMSO 10 % Fluconazole at bedtime. The stinging is for about two minutes and is less than before.
Day One Hundred Thirty Four Aug 30
Some skin peeling this morning and my face is much improved. I washed with ivory soap and then applied the IsaDermix Phase 5 AM Hydrating Cream before going outside today. I did not apply the DMSO Fluconazole tonight but instead used Phase I to cleanse my face after I shaved with ivory soap, applied the Phase 2 and Phase 3 and then Phase 6 PM Cream.
Day One Hundred Thirty Five Aug 31
I used Phase I to cleanse my face after I shaved with ivory soap, applied the Phase 2 and Phase 3 , then the IsaDermix Phase 5 AM Hydrating Cream before going outside today. There is a painful pustule forming on my forhead just above my right eye. I put extra DMSO Fluconazole on it and every red spot of rosacea on my face just before bed.
Day One Hundred Thirty Six Sept 1
Little skin peeling but not significant. The pustule on my forehead is reduced and I popped it. I used Phase I to cleanse my face after I shaved with ivory soap, applied the Phase 2 and Phase 3 , then the IsaDermix Phase 5 AM Hydrating Cream before going outside today. My face is better today. I did not use the DMSO Fluconazole today.Just before bed I applied the Phase 6 PM Cream.
Day One Hundred Thirty Seven Sept 2
I used Phase I to cleanse my face after I shaved with ivory soap, applied the Phase 2 and Phase 3 , then the IsaDermix Phase 5 AM Hydrating Cream before going outside today. I applied the DMSO Fluconazole before bed and the stinging is less that before.
Day One Hundred Thirty Eight Sept 3
Very little skin peeling this morning. I can still see the rosacea but it is better before I wash my face. I used Phase I to cleanse my face after I shaved with ivory soap, applied the Phase 2 and Phase 3 , then the IsaDermix Phase 5 AM Hydrating Cream before going outside today. The IsaDermix Phase 5 AM Hydrating Cream does help reduce the redness. Today I think the stress of Dave Fleming's rude post at the rosaceans yahoo group has added to my rosacea since Geoffrey Nase has emailed me to remove his post. What a mess. I just don't need any of this and I know that stress is not what rosaceans need and I will just have to deal with controlling Dave. If you think I like this I really don't. Just before bed I applied the Phase 6 PM Cream.
Day One Hundred Thirty Nine Sept 4
I used Phase I to cleanse my face after I shaved with ivory soap, applied the Phase 2 and Phase 3 , then the IsaDermix Phase 5 AM Hydrating Cream before going outside today. I applied the DMSO Fluconazole before bed and the stinging is less that before.
Day One Hundred Forty Sept 5
Today I washed my face with ivory soap and shaved with ivory soap too. I then applied the IsaDermix Phase 5 AM Hydrating Cream. Today I finished reading Dr. John Sarno's book, Healing Back Pain, and feel that his theory on TMS may be a factor in rosacea. My comment on his book is posted at my RDUSG and you can read it by clicking here. I was able to calm down and read the book at the beach with my wife and went for a swim. Rosaceans need to reduce stress. I realize that since I began a new job in August caring for a client (since I am a part time employee on a probationary period) that the stress is aggravating my rosacea along with the Fleming stress. Contrary to Dave's accusations that my 'rosacea profits' are large it is far from the truth and I have to work part time to pay the bills. But I am dealing with it and my mind can control this aggravation and anger. Just before bed I applied the Phase 6 PM Cream.
Day One Hundred Forty Sept 6
My face is better but when I wash it gets redder again. I used Phase I to cleanse my face after I shaved with ivory soap, applied the Phase 2 and Phase 3 , then the IsaDermix Phase 5 AM Hydrating Cream before going outside today. I applied the DMSO Fluconazole before bed and the stinging is less that before.
Day One Hundred Forty One Sept 7
Very little skin peeling this morning. I used Phase I to cleanse my face after I shaved with ivory soap, applied the Phase 2 and Phase 3 , then the IsaDermix Phase 5 AM Hydrating Cream before going outside today. Geoffrey Nase posted a warning about DMSO use may cause corneal problems and can be read by clicking here. For now I am stopping the DMSO Fluconazole treatment since I am now beginning another treatment involving a homeopathic formula Dr. Reckeweg® R17 and requires that I stop using any other medication. Besides, the recent stress from all this isn't helping my rosacea. My conclusion on DMSO Fluconazole is that I gave it a try and it definitely helps reduce pustules but did not cure my rosacea. The benefits of reducing rosacea which it does may not be worth the risks which I have clearly stated in my diary. And I don't use the Isadermix products anymore.
If you made a donation for the diary thanks a whole bunch!
