Col-118 [Sansrosa]

Please note: In my book, Rosacea 101, (published in October 2007) in Chapter 13, Prescriptions, page 52, I mention Col-118 as a new prescription. You may want to read more about prescription treatment for rosacea since my book is a comprehensive knowledge base for conventional and alternative treatements for rosacea 'newbies' which is a must have for those who want in one book what they should know about rosacea.

Col-118 [SansRosa] is a new prescription drug still in Phase III clinical trials to start in 2008 by a company called Collagenex Pharmaceuticals. Some information has been released and many rosaceans have anticipated this prescription topical with much hope. Collegenex makes Oracea which you may want to know about if you don't already.

What is important to rosaceans is the clinical phase 3 trials being done with a compound, which is undisclosed at the moment, but referred to as COL-118, a topical compound based on the SansRosa technology, for the treatment of redness associated with rosacea. COL-118/Sansrosa is a alpha-2 Adregenic Receptor Agonist based on brimonidine. Collagenex acquired SansRosa in 2005 according to this report.

Galderma acquired Collagenex according to this report.
