Intensity Pulsed Light Therapy, Laser & Other Light Devices
Please note: In my book, Rosacea 101, I wrote a chapter on Light Devices including IPL, Laser and LED which you can read this chapter in my book beginning on page 67. IPL is one of the Photo Dynamic Therapies (PDT) for rosacea.
Intensity Pulsed Light (IPL) Therapy is the hottest treatment for rosacans. Reports have indicated successful cosmetic improvement for rosacea. However the side effects include skin peeling, potential loss of facial hair and pain. Many have reported having to return after some time (months or years) for more treatment. There are numerous other medical light devices (including laser, LED lamps, etc.) with various brand name which are used to treat rosacea and are too numerous to mention, but some brands are listed in the links at the bottom. I suggest you do a Google search as well.
There are now blue and red light emitting diode based therapy. more info• IPL vs Laser •
While some rosaceans have reported good results with their rosacea there have also been some bad reports of problems mainly due to improper treatment. This indicates that rosaceans not only need to educate themselves beforehand on these devices but also obtain the best treatment from physicians who have had an excellent track record. There are reports that it doesn't work for every rosacean, so, buyer beware.
