So for those of you who have issues with me, the webmaster and owner of this site about making a profit on rosacea, I have prepared this page. I hope you will at least give me the dignity of reading this page if you have issues with me and my rosacea site. I have spent a considerable amount of time on this web site on rosacea since I am a rosacean and have considerable knowledge and experience on this subject. This site has been running since January 1999.
Many do not understand the difference between a dot.com site and and dot.org site. A dot com site is supposed to be commercial while a dot org is supposed to be non profit. (However, you must also understand that some represent themselves as a dot.org but actually are a commercial site, ie., check this site out and some dot com sites claim to be non profit, ie. check this one out, so there is no way to know unless you check the site out and inquire.) This site you are on is a dot com site which means commercial and that is what this site is, a commercial site. An example of a commercial site, rosacea.com, which is owned by Dermik Laboratories Inc., promotes prescription drugs prescribed by medical doctors. If you go to the rosacea.com site it says, "Over-the-counter medications are not effective for the treatment of rosacea and can irritate your skin or worsen your rosacea." [source] This gives you an excellent example of a commercial site that narrows its choices discouraging alternative methods (over-the-counter medications) to control rosacea. That is what the vast majority of commercial rosacea web sites do, narrow the information to a commercial treatment for rosacea or narrow your choice of treatment on rosacea to a certain type of treatment.
However this site keeps an open mind about treatment for rosacea. Not just treatment for rosacea offered by physicians but also any known alternatives. And if I have heard about the treatment I will post it on this web site!
I recently have had rosaceans complain to me that since I am an IsaDermix, ZenMed and a Demodexsolutions affiliate, and therefore by being an affiliate that I am doing something horrible. Have you tried any of these products? I have tried the IsaDermix Phase 5 and it definitely reduces the red of my rosacea. I have not tried ZenMed but since both companies offer an affiliate program I applied for both programs and sell these products to help pay for the overhead of running this site. I am completely convinced that the Zhongzhou Medical Ointment works. So far the profit from any of these affiliate programs is rather small. Why not ignore the advertisements as you do when you watch commercial television? The content on this site is worth all the advertisements you have to endure since what I have here at this site is an amazing amount of free information on rosacea.
You may want commercial sites that promote prescription drugs and if you enter rosacea-control you will find prescription drugs for rosacea that are mentioned throughout the site! Many rosaceans use prescription drugs prescribed by their physicians to control rosacea and want information about them. However, there are other treatments for rosacea which are non-prescription sometimes called over-the-counter drugs, topicals or gels. Some are mentioned here at this site. Some rosaceans may want information on both types of treatment since many rosaceans use both!
Some may be concerned with a few of the alternative treatments for rosacea mentioned on this website which is understandable. There may be some bogus treatments for rosacea (ie., read this item by clicking here- Look for the article 'Spontaneous Remission and the Placebo Effect & Why Bogus Therapies Often Seem to Work' in the top window and click on it to read the article in the bottom window). However, I have tried to note claims of a rosacea cure with this designation, 'cure' to denote this possiblility. However, the traditional or standard medical treatments offered by physicians may be unsatisfactory to many rosaceans and alternative information needs to be in a central clearinghouse and this site is it. If you know of something not mentioned here, why not post it here?
Some may be offended that this site is for profit, a commercial site. For example, they may prefer a site like the Rosacea Awareness Program that claims to be non commercial, funded through an educational grant by Galderma Canada, a research-based pharmaceutical company specializing in dermatology and informs the public only on treatment provided by physicians using pharmacuetical medications or treatments that are commercial for profit businesses. Go for it. Just remember, if it ends in dot.com it means commercial. Doctors and pharmacuetical companies are commercial in nature and influence non-profit organizations with their donations. The Rosacea Awareness Program is an affiliate of the National Rosacea Society.
Galderma is donating to the National Rosacea Society which is a NON-PROFIT organization and claims that it will not allow the promotion of commercial information on their site. Can you find one NON-PRESCRIPTION rosacea treatment mentioned on the National Rosacea Society's site? Non-profit organizations like NPR and PBS claim to be non-profit but accept commercial sponsors or donations which is legal. Nevertheless, NON-PROFIT organizations usually end in a dot.org, like rosacea.org, rather than a dot.com. How would you like to know how the NRS spent their money since the Form 990 reported to the IRS from the National Rosacea Society is public knowledge? If you do click here. If you would care to help form a non-profit rosacea institute click here.
Profit Statement Regarding the Rosacea Diet
Some have issues with making a profit on rosaceans suffering from this disease. Usually these same ones have no problem with doctors, pharmaceutical companies or others who offer prescription or non-prescription products to control rosacea making a profit on rosacea. The fact remains that it is legal and ethical in the USA to write a book and sell it for a profit. The First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees this freedom and so far is still in force.
